the start of basketball season

Basketball season around here officially started today. As I'm typing this, I'm waiting for my husband to get home from practice and devour some of the burritos I made for him before I get the "breakdown" of the new team.  I definitely do not feel very ready for this season. Daniel and I had planned to take a weekend trip and go hiking before it started, and life got in the way, so here we are...no happy weekend memories to relive. Thanksgiving break is coming! I just keep telling myself that.... I am excited about this year's season though! We have some really talented players on the Varsity team, we have three new coaches and this is the first year we have had enough players for a Junior Varsity team. Definitely moving up in the world! The first tournament is this coming weekend, so I'll be spending all my free time in the school gym on Saturday cheering them on as usual.  I am praying for two things for this year's basketball season: 1. Whew! Life is so busy during soccer season, and basketball tryouts are this weekend! We will clearly be going nonstop til mid-April this school year. I love that Daniel is able to coach so much, but I do miss seeing him. We text as much as we can these days, and often stay up extra late at night just trying to catch up with each other's lives. It certainly isn't easy, but we are usually able to squeeze a date night in here and there.  When we were doing our marriage counseling, our pastor encouraged us to do as much of the ordinary tasks that would could together. He and his wife both coached in their early years of marriage, and the little things like grocery shopping, getting gas, returning books to the library, mailing items at the post office were all the best ways to spend time together. It's something that must be done, so if at all possible, do it together!  Daniel and I have really tried to practice doing this, and it's wonderful for our marriage. We get tim...
